Doing Meh Duty.

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 27 August 2008

‘Nother post!
Remember the whole “Post Every Day About Your Teaching Experiences” concept I had going for this blog?
Well, here’s the down-low on teaching so far:
*Classes are a mix of hopeful, cheerful, eager to please… and staring out the window, drooling, not caring what’s being said or who’s saying it.
*Online journals are rocking so far, the [...]

Change Does The Body Good.

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 26 August 2008

I chopped it all off today.
Well, most of it.
I haven’t done much else with my day, and that’s sad since I have to teach tomorrow.
Back to work, eh?

so tired, barely coherent, but here’s a taste (just so i can say i posted today):
*all of my classes went smashingly. i’m really encouraged about the upcoming school year and i think my crazy new syllabus is going to rock.
*watched the saddest, most depressing yet sweet episode of intervention ever, still upset and depressed and [...]

In Keeping With Tradition

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 24 August 2008

It’s the eve of my next teaching semester.
I just HAD to post, or else I’d really be losing sight of the supposed point of this entire journal… which is to chronicle the thoughts, emotions, and expectations I’ve had during my first few years of teaching. The past few days are blurred together now, a big [...]

Internal QQing

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 21 August 2008

It’s that time of the year again.
I’m sitting here calmly, the puppy is asleep at my side and J. expects nothing, but inside I am ripping my hair out with fingernails bared and screaming “MY GOD I NEED TO CUT THIS HAIR.” I want it colored. Chopped. Razor-bladed. Anything to get it out of this [...]

Love, Learning, and Lunging Into New Futures

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 20 August 2008

Anniversary:
J. and I had a wonderful day together, one that was inexpensive and a surprise. He left for work that morning, only to come back around 9:30 while I was walking the dog and chatting with my neighbor. His coworker, the one who is doing a special project with him, was out sick today and [...]

Something to Aspire To…

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 17 August 2008

Quick note:
*Puppy is more than fine, he’s annoyingly healthy. I wouldn’t have it any other way, but his cuteness is going to consume me one day. Right now he’s laying in between J.’s legs, sleeping with his chin resting over J.’s ankle. Cuteness heart attack.
*Still have not prepped well for classes. Still a big loser [...]

Unemcumbered Mommying

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 16 August 2008

So, last night was a disaster.
We went out for Arby’s because, for some odd reason, I was REALLY craving the roast beef sandwiches with Horsey Sauce, a dish I haven’t had since I was a little kid stuck with Dad for a weekend. He loves Arby’s, and we would get lunch/dinner anytime Mom left us [...]

Understanding the Mechanics of Senility

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 14 August 2008

I’m back in Virginia, I’ve gotten all sorts of exciting things done over the past few days, and I am simply happy to be on the right track again. Sort of. Know that feeling? Like, I haven’t solved all of our problems, but I’ve got a good many of them worked out. I have to [...]

Cleaned Out.

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 8 August 2008

Been cleaning all day. Tired up to my eyeballs. Haven’t touched the kitchen, still need to do some things upstairs, but house is 82% better than what it was when J. left. I’m proud. Tired, sore, stinky, but proud.
Had a breakdown in front of my mother in law today because I was freaking out about [...]
