Holy Crap.

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 17 April 2009

So… I just got a call from a local middle school inquiring my presence at an interview a week from next Tuesday.

Color me… confused. Happy, but confused. And I’m just glad that this meeting will be after my meeting with a JMU official to discuss my possible licensure, what I need to do to get it, etc etc etc.

And I’m a little nervous, but I’m AWESOME at interviews so it’s not really that which worries me… it’s my lack of middle school experience that’s working against me a bit.

But HEY. A call back is better than nothing, right? Even if I don’t have a great shot at qualifying?

*breathes in, breathes out*

Steady, girl.

You are going to NAIL this. I’m so excited for you– I’ll have everything crossed that it goes smoothly. :-D

Middle School kids = College Kids – height + raging hormones

I think you’ve got it.

You’d be awesome in a middle school.
If you need anything, let me know. I’ve been subbing in middle schools like mad whoa. :-)
They will probably ask you about:
classroom management.
incorporating technology.
and they’ll probably give you scenarios like “You have a student who is struggling with writing, how would you help that student?”
Ooo, google 6+1 Traits of Writing. It’s a writing program that is really big in schools right now… the middle schools that I sub in embrace it and it’s a pretty good way to assess student writing and stuff.
You’ll do great!!
*heart*

I hope this works out for you. I think working at a middle school would not only be a good option but also more rewarding. Perhaps you can get at these bad writing habits early on!

thought of the moment:

No one should die because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke because they get sick.

time flies.
