Yeah, I really suck at maintaining this thing don’t I?
Teaching-wise, there is no news. I’ll be doing 4 courses for the college again this coming year, for sure, and I’ll be attempting to take a course each semester while teaching. One more step towards being a real live boy public school teacher, I guess.
Someone told me they were desperate for teachers over in Hawaii. Like, paying for people’s moves and initial housing costs desperate. I cannot find a lick of evidence to this claim online, and it’s making me sadface. That’s like offering a kid the puppy of his dreams randomly, for no reason, and then snatching it away. And flushing it down the toilet.
I’m making and maintaining changes that feel grown up and healthy to me. This includes but is not limited to:
*Keeping my car clean and debris-free. If you know me at all, you know my passenger side foot well ends up a wasteland of wrappers and containers from my commuting days. No longer the case.
*The cessation of biting my nails. I have done it for far too long and I’m suddenly craving girly, well-maintained fingers. So I’ve kept it up, and the key to curbing my urge is clipping the sides of each nail into rounded perfection. That way I have nothing to tempt me into nibbles, just a nice half-moon of non-accessible nail.
*The inclusion of exercise at least 5 days a week, if not all 7. I’ve been utilizing exercise videos for this purpose, but every time I have the chance I switch to swimming laps in the apartment pool. I can now do 30 laps in a half hour, which is half a mile. I’m pushing for 45 in 45 minutes soon, as that will be one step closer to being able to swim a full mile. This exercise hasn’t actually led to shedding more and more weight as I planned; the first 25 lbs flew off and then I got stuck. But I can tell my endurance, my strength, and my energy are increasing exponentially and if I stick with it… I know I’ll see more results.
*Cooking meals even when I don’t feel like it. I’m still struggling with this, but having literally NO money helps to a great degree. Desperation is the mother of invention, right?
So… yes. I have yet to revamp my syllabus for the upcoming semester, but my temp job at the grading station is keeping me fairly busy. I also enjoy the side-effect of my swimming, which is my bitching tan.
I must revel while I still may.
p.s. Whatever was I thinking with that god-ugly black and orange theme? Back to what I know and like.
Yayy! a Post!
