This week I’ve done my utmost to actually keep up with the work of managing 88 students.
I’ve had every hand-out readily available, I’ve taught my first real lesson and held my first student-led discussion. I’ve kept my online papers sorted, updated the online calendar, and given clear directions with clear due-dates as to what’s expected [...]

That’s right, bitches. It’s my little ole’ flag flying proud at the top of Getting Shit Done mountain today.
From about 10am to 4:30pm, I hit the metaphorical books and didn’t stop until I had EVERYTHING I needed to print for this upcoming week done and filed.
I have my schedule sorted, and I’ll be assigning readings [...]

The one in particular I was loving today was a fellow grader, sitting kitty-corner to me while we all cover-to-covered in the library today.
He’s an elementary school teacher, and we had some very entertaining conversations about his sass and his use of it in the classroom.
He had one child come up to him after failing [...]

So today… I bought True Blood on dvd with my birthday money from Becca. Thank you, darling!
I also bought a few 1 dollar dog toys, and three outfits for my friend’s baby boy. Couldn’t resist, especially when they were so. on. sale.
I’ve gotten lots done, I need to do a bit more… thinking I might [...]

Hello, again.
I’m headed to my father’s house for a short visit to the parental units (though they’re divorced, they’re in the same city. Handy dandy!) and the little brother. I’ll have my computer and will update from there, I’m sure… but I had to come here to report some good news.
*Received a call from the [...]

So… I just got a call from a local middle school inquiring my presence at an interview a week from next Tuesday.
Color me… confused. Happy, but confused. And I’m just glad that this meeting will be after my meeting with a JMU official to discuss my possible licensure, what I need to do to get [...]

Dear Students,
By now you’ve all read the carefully worded, intricate messages we professors write at the end of your papers. They often accompany a grade which does not make you happy at all, but if you read what we’ve said you’ll find the subtle justification and explanation of said grade. I’m not sure you all [...]

tired beyond all measure.
overall, the teaching fair was a productive experience, but no actual job offers were extended to me. then again, that was mostly due to the fact that no one has an english lit slot open right now… they’ve just told me to apply online so i’ll be first in line for possible [...]

Rather than spending so much time and energy on correcting failed papers… I’m just going to slap this at the end of them:

So, no one else is really going to be excited for my domestic ass-kicking…. I figure I can talk about it here.
Though I’ve neglected to put a game plan together for my class tomorrow, nor have I laid a finger on the papers I need to grade… I have at least settled my house and [...]
so you've said.
