Mountain of Work, I Conquer Thee.

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 21 August 2009

That’s right, bitches. It’s my little ole’ flag flying proud at the top of Getting Shit Done mountain today.
From about 10am to 4:30pm, I hit the metaphorical books and didn’t stop until I had EVERYTHING I needed to print for this upcoming week done and filed.
I have my schedule sorted, and I’ll be assigning readings [...]

Getting Closer

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 11 August 2009

It’s Tuesday.
Tomorrow I go into campus for the first time since last semester, to do assessment and hopefully get some money in the bank. Woot to that.
I also have to file to be considered a special student (dude how have I fallen behind on that? I totally decided to do it like in JUNE), pick [...]

I’ll Never Look At Testing Packets The Same Way Again.

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 8 July 2009

Okay, so here’s what I did for 12 hours today:
Pick up a test booklet. Pray that it doesn’t smell like foreign lands.
Plop it down, check a number on the front, check a number on the inside cover.
Flip through each page and scrutinize the numbers left in red ink by each individual grader for accuracy in [...]

In It To Win It

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 27 April 2009

I met with the Secondary Education Dept Head today, to discuss licensure in my state for public teaching.
Apparently, I currently qualify for provisional hiring, and would only need a few courses and tests to get my complete license.
This warrants joy like no one else knows. Honestly.
Because it means I have an honest shot at the [...]

jitters.

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 27 February 2009

well, things are in place…
my resume and teaching philosophy copies are all neatly collated and stapled.
my example assignments, syllabus, writing sample, all within my guarded little sheet protectors.
clothes picked out.
earrings removed (for the day).
directions in place, make-up planned out, mental schedule in place.
soooo…. now it’s just time to sleep and get a job tomorrow, right?

Veddy Interesting.

I’m not sure how this happened, but it appears that Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak cd is now my official grading music.
*confused grimace*
Maybe it’s all that QQing about his personal life? It induces grading tendencies deep within me?
I dunno. Your guess is as good as mine.

Updating.

Just a few tidbits:
*Classes have gone well lately, eaten up the full time. Students are still wary of speaking out but they’re warming up more and more. Having a few individuals come up and discuss things after classes end is always an ego boost. Makes me feel like a winner. Of what? I dunno. Apparently [...]

Thursday’s As Good a Day As Any.

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 19 February 2009

Slowly yet surely, things are getting done around my house.
I have laundry started, and I’m about to drag my ass upstairs to pull all the dirty stuff down.
I’m going to vaccuum the living room, and I’m currently taking care of some burning projects I’ve had to do forever.
I want to visit my neighbor, who I [...]

The Plan.

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 15 February 2009

Mmkay, observation tomorrow.
Visual arguments/analysis, advertisement day.
Will be observed by boss.
Breaking students into 3 groups of 5, giving each group an ad to break down (context and content), then present to class.
These ads are fun, light, interesting.
Then I hit them with the more complex ads, ending in a shocking one used to campaign against anorexia.
I’m getting [...]

Rebooting the System

Posted by: Professor Anonymous on: 9 February 2009

So, I took a day to rest. Sort all my shit out. Talk with the people with whom I needed to speak. Press the imaginary button the size of a pinhead on my brain that Resets it to default, and I’m feeling much much better.
I haven’t done shit lately, and that needs to change.
I need [...]

thought of the moment:

No one should die because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke because they get sick.

time flies.
